The rules for first aid leach the proper and necessary action to take In cases of the most ficqueut injuries when treatment by a physician is delayed. Such Injuries include bullet wounds, fractures of arm and leg, drowning, poloonlDg, freezing, sunstroke, etc. The battalion Is already miking preparations for the annual cadet bop, which will bo given n the 2l3t of February. This event, in which the public takes such great Interest, will this year have additional features. The appearance of almost one hundred hun-dred cadets in full dress uniform with martial music, and a beautiful stand of national and regimental colors, will make the affair a brilliant one. MILITARY DRILL n n sen Military training in the High school under the supervision of Captain W. E Kneads is now in full swing, and three- afternoons each week the cadets ca-dets may be seen going through the various military evolutions. The two companies and the trumpet trum-pet corps consisting of all first and second year male students are now fully equipped with blue dress uniforms. uni-forms. In addition a full dress equipment equip-ment has 'been ordered consisting of white pompous for the caps and the regulation West point cross lelts and waist belts with brass plains. An innovation in the way of mu sic will be made In the addition to the trumpet corps of three snare drums and a bass drum. This will afford af-ford the battalion a martial music second only to a military band. The work covered by the military department Is varied, interesting and beneficial. It does not consist, as many people- think, solely of marchings march-ings and going through the manual of arms. Various physical and setting up drills are given which afford systematic sys-tematic exercise to that majority of loys who arc unable to participate In rootlall and track work. During the fetormy weather this winter every third drill will he devoted to military and other athletic games at tho armory. ar-mory. This will be In preparation for an Indoor athletic meet between companies, com-panies, to bo given some time In the latter part of the winter and to fhlch the public will be invited and urged to attend. An Important and valuable subject taken up by the cadets is that of "First Aid to the Injured." The value of this knowledge is by no means confined to military students aa there is scarcely a mau or boy who does , . |
