In-dictment? wero returned by the grand jury In the United Stales district court this morning, five of them sealed, when It reported to the court tfter being in session since November Novem-ber 11. One sealed Indictment was returned about ten days ago in order to bring it within the statute of limitations, limit-ations, making a total of thirteen true bills being found During the time that tho grand Jury was in session the members investigated in-vestigated seventeen cases, lour of which were ignored, aD.l indictments found in the remaining thirteen. II II. Ik-ndrickson of Provo was indicted for using Uie L'niteil States mails to defraud. He orf-ani.ed the I'lshman Produce company and announced an-nounced in a circular letter through the mails that he would pay $7 per case for fresh eggs and -7 cents a pound lor butter. In th.? letter he promised to pay for the produce by return mall. This was tne part of his contract that he did not fulfill. Amr.ng his list of victims were If. .1. Clegs ot Heber City, I C. Kaatz, the Stevens "Mercantile company, tho Cl;ai lf'ston company of Charleston and the Fishlunn company of Hear river. There are eight counts in the indictment. Selling Liquor to Indians. V. D. Newton of Washington county coun-ty was Indicted for selling liquor to Indians on the Shebit reservation. He is charced with diipoying of tho liquor to Marlcat, an Indian. Th re are six counts in the indictment. The of-itnse of-itnse was commit U'- on January I. 1010. Hector McQuarric was Indicted on a similar count for selling liquor. He Is accused of having disposed of considerable con-siderable liquor to Alice Klce, an Indian In-dian woman, on December 10, 1903. Tl-ere are eight different counts in the bill Paul Hangus, a Greek at Garfield, was indicted for selling liquor on June 2$ and :i0 Inst without a government govern-ment license. Goorge Demas was Indicted In-dicted for a similar offense, which was committed at Garfield on the same dates. For Counterfeiting. Edward Wilbur, 27 years old, was l'idicted for counterfeiting dollar pieces and G-cmt pieces. The offense was committed in Price, where he was arrested some months ago. Thomas Smith, who was an accomplice of Wilbur, was indicted for the same offense. William Kabino, another accomplice, ac-complice, was not Indicted. Ho was brought before Ihe grand Jury, and it l.i rumored that he turned state's evidence evi-dence and furnished the Information v-hlch led to the indictments. Ka- J bino is H years old and is still in the ! county Jail with the other two men vtho were indicted. Ezra Judd of Panguitch was indict-tr indict-tr for robbing the malls. In the bill ho Is charged with taking a letter Irom the postofiice at Panguitch which contained a draft made in favor of J. E. Gunn. The offense was committed com-mitted ou September 1G, 1010. |
