During Saturday afternoon, the company com-pany banqueted the American workmen work-men with their families and furnished beautiful Christmas tree offerings fori the children, which embraced all the school children of the district. The large tables arranged on th ground floor of the eruusement hall fairly groaned with the weight of the gcod things, Including turkey, crau-berry crau-berry r.auce, nuts and candy, and all other things to make a great dinner. The upper floor of the building was utilized in the afternoon for tho bene- lit of the school children who assembled as-sembled an l partook freely of the bos-pltallty bos-pltallty of the company and gladly exirclsed their privilege, of taking hanjsome presents from the tree. The little ones In turn made the building build-ing fairly ring with their sweet cjtoH. In tho evening the upper floor was turned Into a dancing hall and all, both old anl young, danced unt.l tho midnight hour, when Christmas day was ushered In with great shouts of joy. There were three hundred people seated at th ebanmiet board in the afternoon, aft-ernoon, all of whom pnrtlclpated In the dance. Yesterday was given up to the ob pe-rvance of the day nt homo, many Christmas dinners being Indulged in. There are a great many foreigners employed at tho plant and they wer given an opportunity to spend the vacation va-cation time as they saw fit. They spent the time resting from their daily toll and partaking. In their way, of yulelble festivities. In recognition of their good service, tho cement company com-pany presented each one of the foreigners for-eigners with a ton of coal. |
