Show FACES TRIAL FOR FASSELL MURDER SALT LAKE, June 13 Pale, but not conspicuously agitated. lames Hayes was led into Judge T. D Lewis' court today to face trial for tho murder of Oeorge W. Fassell, the grocery man whose store, was at 619 East Fourth South As soon as the case was called Judge Pardee asked lor the defendant that his true name be placed on record of the court, namely, Thomas Riley Instead of James Hayes. There were about a dozen spectators specta-tors In the courtroom, including some women, but the fact that tho day was spent in the finding of a Jury explains the apparent lack of lu-tereHt. lu-tereHt. The following jurymen wero the first to be examined- Mlllen M. Atwood of 1610 South Eleventh East, A. F. Dorenius; Arthur L. Foulger. who works for the. Fisher Brewing company; Hirchel B. Lyman. Edward Butterworth, the real estate man; Charles W. Brown, George Bates, B. J. Clayton, Albert G Morris, John Wood, Charles E. Hemcnway and Jo- soph M. Silvers. Milton M. Atwrod was challenged by the defense because he eald he had read the account of tho murder in the Descret News and had formed an opinion regarding tJie defendant's share In the deed. Mr. Atwood, how-ever, how-ever, said that hla knowledge of tho affair came only through what ho had read and that he took all newspaper accounts with considerable allowance. allow-ance.
