Show UNIQUE MISSIONARY MEETING IS HELD The Ladles' Missionary society of tho Baptist church will meet next Wednesday afternoon with Mm. Rog ers, 2306 Harrison Ave. SubjeeL "A I ittlo Moro About Alaska." This will he a continuation of the subject ho ably treated by the toclety at iw last meeting, when It led the church on a very unique and entertaining "Trip to Alaska.1' in which each participant lu the meeting represented a special character of a worker In the Alaskan mission The "excursionists' wero "hooked" for the trip several days la advance and upon presenting themselves them-selves at the proper church door, each was required to "walk tho gang-plank" onto the steamer, th-eir tickets were propei ly punched and Prof. J. A. Smith as personal conductor of the excursion attended to the comfort of all tho excursionists, ex-cursionists, landing them safely at Wood Island, Alaska in time for tho "conference " TJie party were met by the Alaskan workers led by Rev. O. A. Learn, (Rev. Zimmerman) Supt of the Orphanage anil his corps of I holner Imrini' Mia nvrnrclrintar -i were Hev. Curllss Coe, a former Supt Mrs. McWhlnney, of.noston, Sec. of the Alaskan Mission. 'With them were also three new workers a new assistant as-sistant superintendent, his brldo and an experienced missionary. These three were personated by three of the young people, a largo number of the church people went with these to attend the "Conference" A reception was immediately tendered tender-ed them at the orphanage by the Alaskan workers, and a flue luncheon was served. The Orphanage dining room (the church iparlors) being occorated for tho occasion with artistic ar-tistic pictures, fur rugs and a huge Toiem-pole. The tables wero set in tho form of a large letter A. the center cen-ter piece being surmounted with a huge block of Ice forming a very unique center piece. Place cards wero thin wooden paddles decorated In Indian In-dian colors. The menu consisted of 'il-mon 'il-mon salad, potato chips, pickles, lettuce let-tuce sandwiches, smoked salmon, radishes), melena berries (canned rasp, he-tries) Iced gingerbread and coffee, Supt. Prof. Smith gave an Interesting talk on arctic conditions. condi-tions. Alter the lunch a pleasant social time was had until all wero conducted to tho Chapel (church auditorium) for the Conference, when Ihe following excellent program was rendered : Song Service; Devotional exercises.
