Then I there is the usual Cohan chorus, fair of fare unrl figure, and endowed with 1 voices that e;in delier tho numerous Cohan stage buslness's with that snap an nerve typical of all Cohaa proiiuc-i proiiuc-i Hons. i "Johnny Jones" has a well defined plot, too, and a couple of love stories that run throughout the three acts in J which it hay bern written Then there are no less than twenty special song nunmc-rs all from the pen of j George M. Cohan, and therefore dis-I dis-I linctly whist lcable. H ere are the nanus or a few that have and rre be ing whistled and mmg in almost every tongue: "They're All My Friends." "Mam sella Faurhci te," "Op In the A'nsom," "Nesting in a New York Tree," "Yankee Doodle Boy," "Girls of the V. S. A., "Captain of the Ten-Day Ten-Day Boat,' "Good-Bye, Flo," "Good Obi California." "A tilrl I know." "Life's I a Very Funny Proposition After All." "Off to the Derby.' and "Give My Regards Re-gards to Broadway." As to the scenery and costumes, "Johnny Jones' can claim as elaborate elabo-rate and effective an investiture as any company on tonr. Seldom has there beeii a more perfect marine stage picture devised than thai whleh composes the second act of Mr. Co- han's comedy, which represents a pier . at Southampton, with an ccean grey-' grey-' hound ready to sail. At the end of ! this act the ship leaves her dock, the ; stage Is darkened, and in a moment tho essel is seen away in the oiling, brilliantly lighted. As the boat nears . the center of the stage, a rod whlio and blue rocket Is sent up from her main deck, making an effect seldom shown in a playhouse. Another effective effect-ive scene is tho third act, which represents rep-resents a certain portion of Chinatown j In San Francisco. During this scene there Is a march entitled "The March ; of the 'Frisco Chinks," participated in i by the entire male and female chorus, j the costuming of the same being most effective. |
