Barnard Barns, whoso case was held over from yesterday, was given a hear-i hear-i ing on the charge of trespass. The testimony disclosed the fact lhat Barna had recently occupied a private barn, not belonging to him. and that be had turned It Into a lodclng house for himself and friends. Officer Anderson An-derson stated that after he succeeded succeed-ed in waking the old man from his peaceful slumbers, the old fellow drew a good aired bottle of whiskey from his pockel and Insisted that he indulge. in-dulge. The court sentenced the man to tho city Jail for five days. John Herman stated that he would have to plead guilty to the chargo of vagrancy. He was sentenced to pay a fine of $10. J. L. Alvord acknowledged that ho had violated the recent ordinance relative rel-ative to riding bicycles on tho sidewalk. side-walk. It cost hlin J5. A company of Greeks, designated as John Doe, Richard Roe, James Doe. Jnrues Roe and John Roe, also another an-other John Doe, of 205 2Ctb street, were lined up In court this morning to answer the charge of throwing rubbish rub-bish on tho premises of II. C. Gordon, and one of tho men was charged with indecent exposure. Attorney Halverson had been employed em-ployed to defend them, and he asked the Indulgence of the court until such time as he can segregate the "Roes from the Does." lie did not. know tho men. and they all looked alike to him. The Indulgence was extended extend-ed and the cases set for hearing tomorrow. to-morrow. ln the case of Swan Shew, a Chinaman, China-man, and Ebelo Edsenga, accused of disturbing the peace by fighting and quarreling, the city attorney asked that the case against the Chinaman be dismissed that he might use him ax a witness against tho white man. It was so ordered and tho case will be heard later. |
