To check a nolby process which interfered with the peace and quiet of the HaiTiman estate at Ardon, the Erie railroad la building new tracks and altering the routing of many of Its less important import-ant trains. Mrs. E. H. Harriman, widow of tho financier, requested that the short cut of the Erie, Just under tho moun-toln moun-toln estate at Arden, be abandoned because of the noise the trains made. The railroad company could not sen its way clear to take this step, but agreed to ameliorate conditions by stopping switching In the vlclalty and sending as many trains as possible over the other route. |
