The Idea prevails with many of the coal men that there Is no profit In the handling of coal at the prices given by the Bamberger company, and that It Is likely that that company will put the price back to tho original figure before long. All the coal dealers were given an opportunity to announce In the Standard Stand-ard this afternoon Just what they were willing to do, but about half ot them were not In a position to state a positive conclusion. They all had seen tho announcement of the cut !n price In the Standard yesterday and they nuhesitatingly stated that it had rather upset things In the coal world today. They all say they are willing, end have desired to sell coal at the hiwest possible profit to them, but that they cannot sell at a loss Some of them are of the opinion that tho $5 DO and $5.75 prices are dangerously dangerous-ly near the starvation point for the dealers. Others say they can sell coal os cheaply as can tho Bamberger Bamber-ger people, and will meet the low prices. |
