Show CADETS' BALL HUGEMCCESS The ballroom of the Ogdeo ,I,t1J rchool last evening was the scene of a moJt brilliant gathering of young people. The occasion wan the annual an-nual cadets' ball, the preeminent social so-cial event of the school season. The hall was gaily decorated with pennants of rcd WD't, 9nd b,u0 overhanging pennants of orange and Mack A largo picture of "Our First President" occupied the center of a largo national (la- at the head of the hall near the orchestra stand, over which was draped a much larger fljg. A most pleasing light effect was made by the Chinese lanterns, which don from the ceillnc. The gaily uniformed cadets intermingled inter-mingled with the crowd f charming and beautifully gowned young ladles completed a most entrancing scene The presence of a number of the nluinnl and older patrons of the school gave addd charm to the occasion, oc-casion, they being honored with several sev-eral special dances. The. feature of the evening was the military drill, executed by the cadet. The first "Guard mount with a trumpet trum-pet corn" of ten pieces. The cadets went through this drill with tbe snap and precision of regulars. The sec ond "Butt's manual of rifle drill," given giv-en for tho first time in the state, took the large audience by surprise; the Intricate movements In faultless manner to the music of the orchestra. The closing drill was the dropping of a huge 30-foot fla? from above the orchestra After the Butt's manual the company was drawn Into line. Ihe ten trumpeters blew the call, "To the Colors." The company was brought to "Present arms." when simultaneously sim-ultaneously Ihe big flag dropped and the orchestra played "The Star Spangled Banner," amid the most enthusiastic en-thusiastic applause of the entire audience-. In commenting on the drill. Capt. Webb and his cadet adjutant, Capt Wallace, ef the State National Cuard. said Jn no uncertain way that the work of the cadets was above reproof, the discipline and every other oth-er feature being almost perfect.
