Smtlh says about the matter is carried out, there will be no parleying with those v.ho aro found violating tho laws of Utah regarding the purity of the milk that Is placed upon the market. In the municipal court this morn-iDg, morn-iDg, Robert Balrd, a milk dealer, was arraigned on the charge of selling adulterated, watered milk. Ho pleaded plead-ed guilty and the court sentenced him to pay a fine of $50 and the costs of court, or servo fifty days in the county coun-ty Jail. Tho fine was paid. The complaint com-plaint against Mr. Baird alleges tho same facts as are alleged In complaints com-plaints against other suspected violators viol-ators of the law. A. D. Garner, also a milk dealer, was arraigned on the same charge and he entered a plea of not guilty. Mr. Garner states that the adulterated adulterat-ed milk he sold was watered by the farmers from whom he purchased tlm product and that he knew Dothlng about If. Inspector Smith corroborates corrobor-ates the statement of Mr. Garner In this respect, and states that to prove or disprove Mr. Garner's assertion on the matter, he made the rounds with Mr. Garner's wagon last Saturday, and took samples of the milk he received re-ceived from the farmers as It was brought to tho wagon. Since that tlmo a test of the farmers' farm-ers' milk has been made and In three Instances was found adulterated. The result of this investigation Is that three complaints were sworn to by Mr. Smith and filed with the clerk of the Justice's court today, charging Charles Geltder, H. S. Montgomery and Thomas BrowTi, all farmers, with selling adulterated milk. It Is expected expect-ed the warrants of arrest will be served serv-ed on tho parties this afternoon and that the eases will be called In tha municipal court tomorrow morning. Mr. Smith states that the milk men, and the farmers too. have been warned against the watering of milk, and that they might have known that the inspectors would catch them If they persisted. He also states I hat the state officers have other samp'es of milk that are being tested, and that if they are found to fall bclow the standard of purity fixed by the statutes, other complaints will be diawn up and the parties brought Into court to answer for tho violation.
