Show HYDE BATTLES FOOIS LIFE KANSAS CITY. May 9. Roth Dr. R C. Hyde and his wife took 'ho witness wit-ness stand in the Swope murder trial today in an effort to save tho accused ' physician's life. None was spared in the testimony of the two witnesses. Relatives, foimcr friends and nurses who had testified for the stale against Hyde were accused ac-cused of falsehood and trickery. Dr. Hyde offered no oxcusps for his actions in treating the sick at the S-opo home. Neither did he admit that he might have erred. Firmly he said his course was ripht in tb? cases of James Mos Hunton, Colonel Thoa. H. Swope and Chrisman Swope. maintained that he causes of death he tave when the men died he still believed to be correct. Never, the " physician said, did he I try to poison j?ny one. either with ty-j ty-j phold germs or drugs. Further, ho swore he had no knowledge until after Colonel Swope s death, whether Mrs. Hyde was to be left a part of the estate es-tate of the millionaire. Checking her tears a best she could Mrs. Hyde preceded her husband on the stand. She flatly contradicted testimony tes-timony given by her mother, her brother and several sisters. She said that Thomas H. Swope .Ir. was not on the street at the time when he says he saw Dr. Hyde throw away capsules said to have contained cyanide and that she saw Dr. Twyman tie the string that controlled tbe flow of blood j from her cousin, Mr Hunton's body. |
