Show JARB1DGE SALOON MUST GO District Forester A. E. Sherman states that the Jarbldge saloon must po, A number of saloons have opened open-ed In the camp, and they have been warned not to continue the business, but, for some unaccountable reason, "ays Mr. Sherman, the saloon men have disregarded the order. The matter has now been turned over to the United States district attorney at-torney and the marshal, and It Is expected ex-pected that they will take immediate action. The saloons In operation at the camp are conducting their places In direct violation of law and are subject to criminal prosecutions for past and present acts. Mr, Sherman states that the inhabitants inhab-itants of the town of Jarbldge aro living liv-ing there by the grace of the foreat service department of the government, the land not having been set apart for entry under the homestead laws, and It Is 6trlctly contrary to law to conduct saloons, or sell Intoxicants, ou tho national forests. The forester states that the parties owning the saloons In the new camp have been advised of the law and the determination of the forest service department de-partment to prohibit lic sale of liquor but Inasmuch as the advice has been unheeded. It Is now thought proper that criminal proceduro be Invoked. |
