June 3 Haunted by the memory of a dead man's face, John Avery, who was sent to tho prison here on Janury 24 of this year to serve a five-year sentence for -a burglary committed in San la llosa.' confessed to one of his guards that he had phot and killed an unknown man in a box car in the Great Northern North-ern freight yards at Spokane.
