Show RACE TRACK NOTES The management of the Littleton Jockey club, thirteen miles out of Den-vcr Den-vcr have informed the horsemen here that they would run a meeting prior to tho meet at Overland park, to commence com-mence May 29th, and wish to notify all horsemen who may desire to race there to make application for stall room at once. A great treat is In store for the lovers lov-ers of the thoroughbred next Tuesday which will be known as the Ogden day at the track. The feature event of that occasion will bo a half mile dash in which the best sprinters that have ever been eeen on a half-mile track will meet-Kopeck meet-Kopeck stumbled in the last race yesterday and Howard, like the cat of nine lives, landed on his feet and the only injury sustained by him was that he had to walk to the judges' stand instead of Tiding. Jockey Stllle rode a grand race with Mary Genevieve In the first and won a large bet for the stable; this boy Is certainly riding in grand form and should have more mounts than he has; ho is quick at the post and knows the shortest way around. T. Lynn cleaned up with his chestnut chest-nut gelding Balnade, in the second race; the Schreiber cast-off was played from 20 down to 8, and never left the result of the race in doubt The fourth race was one of the grandest exhibitions that could be seen on a race course, six of the eight horses came through the run homo cavalry front and finished aligned across the track, noses and heads separating them and the public's pub-lic's choice was the one that caught tiie judges' eye. Sam Stern, the official announcer, will certainly have to file a protest against somo of the horse's names on the track, for calling out names like La Reins Hindoo, Hi Caul Cap and others will soon put a kink in his voice. Rather than have Sammle go out of service from this cause, the bookmakers will gladly raise the purses purs-es to send him to a throat specialist as they appreciate his courteous ways at all times'. The Bamberger road special has Improved Im-proved Its Lime on its service from here to Salt Lake, and now many of the followers who formerly took the other routes are coming on the special. spe-cial. The people of Ogden have put a big crimp in the bank rolls of the bookmakers. This speaks well for the form of racing, but It comes pretty pret-ty hard on tbe players who have not yet had one winning day. |
