Show OLD FRENCH LADDER DREDGE RESTORED TO USE Washington. April ' 10. At a cost of about $30 000 the Isthmian canal officials are restoring for use the Mar mot. an old French ladder dredge of the Belgian type, which was launched launch-ed at the La Boca shlpways on March 2.3. It will soon be at work at the Pacific entrance to the canal, doing the excavation for which it was designed de-signed 25 years ago. It is a composite dredge, made of a hull taken from the beach at La Boca, opposite the Panama railway wharf, plates dug out of the mud at Sau Pablo and machinery from an old drudge at Gorgona left on the Tanks of the Chagres by the French. The capacity of tho dredge will be about 6.000 cubic yards a day or two twelve-hour twelve-hour shifts. |
