Show RIVALRY BETWEEN CREWS OF THE SCOUT CRUISERS Newport. R. I.. April 10. Intenso rivalry exists among the crews of the scout cruisers Birmingham and Salem over the relative qualities of their vessels, ves-sels, which, with the cruiser Chester, have just finished their coal endurance endur-ance tests. A purse of $5,000 has been raised by the crew of the Salem to 1 cover a like amount raised on the Bir- inlngham. the money to be put up as 1 . wager that the Salem will win Ihe 21- 1 ( hour full speed test to begin Monday , 1 rcxt.
