Show NEW POSTAL SERVICE BETWEEN UNITED STATES AND FRANCE. New York, Feb. 11 The new postal 60a service between this country and France was Inaugurated today on the French line steamer Le Bretagne, sailing sail-ing for Havre. Postmaster Edward M. Moran of New York and P. Fageuot, general agont of the Compagnle Generale Transatlantic here, both expressed themselves today enthusiastically about the new service and are hopeful of Its success and permanent establishment establish-ment between the two counties. It requires the Installation of two federal clerks and two French government govern-ment clerks abroad the Le Bretagne, to handle the mails. For a number of years, the United States tovernment has been trying to get tho French government gov-ernment to adopt the service, and the Cunard line is now the only one without with-out it, according to Tostmaster Morgan. Mor-gan. . "It will be of great benefit in facilitating facili-tating the movement of the French mail in this country," said Mr. Morgan. Mor-gan. "Under the new system, all the mall Is sorted aboardshlp and ready for distribution upon arrival." We will be able to save from eight to ten hours' time In Now York City delivery and twenty-four hours through to the Pacific coast.'-' The federal authorities believe the success of the new service on the French line will insure its speedy adoption by the Cunard line. |
