Show MACHINE CATCHES il MIL Officer Rescues Hanan and Wife From Flaming Flam-ing Auto New York, May 25 John Hanan. a wealthy shoe manufacturer, and hl3 wife were rescued in a thrilling manner man-ner from their burning automobile, In front of the Metropolitan opera house, where the Lambs club was giving its gambol last night. Their car had Just stopped at the entrance, being one in a lfjng train of automobiles, when the car behind them suddenly plunged forward and shattered the gasoline tank of the Hanan machine. The gasoline gas-oline caught fire, spreading Barnes throughout the street, enveloping the automobile and attracting a crowd of several thousand persons. Tbe police reserves and the fire department wero called out. While the fire wa3 shooting up all about the Hanan car, a policeman opened the door and first took Mr. Hanan out. Then with Mr. Hanaus assistance they lifted Mrs. Hanan acioss the lake of fire. The automobile automo-bile was almost consumed before the flames were extinguished. |
