Show RECEIVED UNIQUE PRESENT Suit Case From Philippines, Frame Mahogany, Front Inlaid Native Wood Washington, April 22. The president presi-dent has received a unique present from the Philippines In the form of a large suit case used by John S. Shord, collector of International revenue, in bringing to Washington commercial and industrial statistics for U6e in considering con-sidering Philippine tariff legislation. The frame is of mahogany and the front is maJe of small inland blocks of native wood, about 120 different specimens, speci-mens, highly polished and bearing the Initials "W. H. T." in native gold and the Initials "P. I." in native mother-of-pearl. The back and Bides are composed com-posed of caribou hides and the handle i is a piece of Manilla hemp with tho inscription "Taft-Paync Philippine tariff." tar-iff." in gold letters. The materials were contributed by Mr. Taffs friends In the Philippines. The presentation was made at the White HouBe today by General Edwards, Ed-wards, chief of the insular bureau of the war department |
