Since the first of the year tho Day mine has developed one of the largest larg-est ore bodies ever found in the PI-oche PI-oche district. The ore body has been developed on the 600. 700 and 800 foot levels and on the 900 foot level of the mine the drift is being sent out to crosscut the ore body. According to Mr. Gaskell. about 150.000 tons of ore have been developed in the mine in the past thiee and a half months. The ore body has been demonstrated to be 120 feet, by 80 feet, by 230 feet, although the full depth has not been ascertained. The Day mine la one of the best equipped for tho care of its ore of any In the district. It owns the little railroad rail-road that connects the mine with the Salt Lake Route and bins and other necessary equipments have been installed. in-stalled. For economic handling of ore the property is the best equipped in tho district at present "There is a great deal of activity shown in tho Ploche district by the I Low-Cnxe-Thompson people, who are , pushing the work over on the Golden Prince. Gold and Silver Prince and I Pioche Gold Crown properties," said Mr. Gaskell this morning. Conditions are fast developing the Day mine of the Nevada-Utah company into one of the largest Pioche properties, and It is soon to be the largest shipper of the district, if the plans cf Superintendent Superinten-dent James P. Gaskell are worked out. At present the mine is shipping between 75 and 100 tons of ore a day, but 'with the Increased development it 1 now able to send out a tonnage of between 200 and 300 tons a day. It is to make arrangements for the proposed increase in tonnage that Superintendent Su-perintendent Gaskell is now in the city. In speaking of conditions at Ploche, Mr. Gaskell declares that things are livening up there in a manner that is pleasing to the mine owners. He as- serts that the place will soon be one of the great mining districts of the country and that the tonnage hauled Irom the camp each day to the smelt ers in tlie Salt Lake valley will he at a figure little dreamed of at present.
