Show ATTEMPT BOYLE It Fails Because of Vigilance of Night Watchman Mercer, Pa., April 22. An attempt to liberate James H. Boyle from the Mercer county jail, was made last night, according to jail officials. The effort failed because of the vigilance of NighT-VaTehm"5rt Robert Frrrl?. who discovered a ladder resting against the jail wall, directly under Boyle's cell window. It was apparently the intention inten-tion to saw the bars from the outside and release the prisoner. Tbat prompt disposition will be made of the case against Boyle and his wife, is the opinion here. Evidence will be presented tomorrow to the grand jury and indictments are expected expect-ed against both the Boyles. It is believed be-lieved the trial of Boyle will be commenced com-menced Monday, and be followed quickly by that of his wife. Mrs. Boyle is anxious that her iden- j tity and career shall not be brought I out at the trial, but Attorney T. C. Cochran, representing Mr. Whitla in j the prosecution, is determined to Iden- J tlfy the woman because of the reports that she is connected with a prominent promi-nent Sharon family. |
