Show BOISE CITY IS GOING AHEAD' VISITOR WHO PRAISES THE CAP-ITAL CAP-ITAL OF IDAHO. Local Option Is a Paramount Issue In the Gem Station and Is Holding Attention. j C. R Chrlsman, general agent of the Harrlman lines at Boise City, Idaho, arrived from the north this morning and will spend a few days with Joint Agent W. H. Chevers of this city, and other friends at Salt Lake. To a Standard Stand-ard reportor Mr. Chrlsman said: "Boise Is gTowlug rapidly these days and now has a population of fully 26.000 people. Real estate values are advancing rapidly and modern improvements im-provements of every description are In progress everywhere. Two and per haps three good hotels will be erected during the present year and a number of substantial business blocks will be commenced early this spring. The residence districts are receiving attention atten-tion also and new and comfortable homes are being constructed in many parts of town. "During the past year . tho Oregon Short Line company has made radical Improvements around about the handsome hand-some passenger depot and these will be supplemented during the year by concrete walks, beautiful lawns and handsome floral environments. "Jut at present the local option question Is receiving attention from Idaho statesmen and the contest promises prom-ises to be warm and Interesting. The proposition is being thoroughly threshed thresh-ed over in all Its phases and 'wet' and 'dry" lobbyists are on the ground in goodly sized numbers all working overtime in advocacy of their theories. "I am here visiting my old friend Chevers and incidentally catching onto his up-to-date methods of handling railroad traffic,' in order to make Improvements Im-provements in our system of handling fast freight and passenger butslneaa. When I have accomplished this, I will return and change our methods wherever wher-ever necessary." |
