Show FIRST UNION SERVICES HELD MINISTERS OF ALL CHURCHES ARE PRESENT. Tonight the Sermon Will Be By Rev. Carver In the First Presbyterian Presby-terian Church. Tho first of the Union Services to be conducted this week in the various-churches 'In tho Ogden Association Associa-tion of Churches was held last evening even-ing in the Congregational church, the Rev, Noble Strong Elderkin preaching the sermon, and the following ministers min-isters took part in the service: G. W. McCreery, H. M. Zimmerman, Mr. Fleetwood, Mr.. Carver and the pastor of the Swedish Lutheran church. The Congregational choir rendered appropriate appro-priate music and a very earnest and helpful address was given by Mr. Elderkin. El-derkin. Tho especial Interest in these meetings was. quite manifest by "the large number in attendance. The room was very well filled with a representative audience gathered from all the various religious followlngs of the town. This drawing together of the various var-ious church bodies is the prime aim of these services, and wherever the week is thus obFerved as it is In many of the eastern cities the results of good fellowship and closer affiliation haB been most gratifying. The other prime motive is the deepening of the spiritual life by the emphasis which such services placo upon the two great teachings of this historic week, namely the atonement for sin and the resurrection of the body, Redemption and immortality arc facts of bo great import to the race that they cannot be too strongly Impressed upon the minds of the people, and it Is hoped that in this way the services will be of some direct and manifest value Tonight the services are held In the Tirst Presbyterian church, when Rev. Carver preaches the sermon upon "Questioning the Christ." The Tuesday Tues-day of the last week in the life of Christ was one of the busiest days of His life and several chapter of the gospels are given to recounting tho work and teaching of this one day. Tho day's work; will be reviewed and especial attention given to the questions ques-tions asked tho Christ by friend and foe. Thero will be special music. |
