Show uu REMODELING AN OLD BUREAU Perhaps you have a cumbersome old bureau which you want to remodel Into a chest of drawers or dressing fable, fa-ble, this can be accomplished with point, cretonne and a little patience. A few suggestions may help you In the case of a golden-oak or walnut bureau, bu-reau, a type which commonly has a machlne-c i r I'd wood or supporting mirror and carved wood or cheap spun brass handles or drawers. To transform either of thoee It will bo necessary to remove the standard that holds the mirror and take from the drawers the wooden or brass handles Begin by using the frame that holds the drawers. This should be thoroughly thor-oughly free from paint or nrnlsh. To accomplish this, use a paint-rcmover. then appl a liquid filler, as the palnt-romover palnt-romover usually removes the filler as well as the finish Sandpaper this lightly before applying two coats of Ivery-COlored paint, which will be necessary ne-cessary to complete the work After applying the first coat, paint strtps of slightly rounded, narrow p -ture or cabinet molding, which have been cut the length and height of the drawers This molding when nailed to the top and end of each drawer, will make a frame for an Interesting piece of cretonne, which by tacking, can be stretched tightly across the front of each drawer Nail on the molding with molding nails, fill the little niiliholea with puttv and point carefully the molding with a second coat of lory paint.
