Particularly pleiudng was the play- Ing of Vincent, the Qrpheum's new, I organist, on the Robert-Morton origan or-igan Showing remarkable versatility and musicianship, demonstrating In I a masterly way the flexibility of the I great organ. Vincent played right Into' I the hearts of hlx audience. This was! especially noticeable in "For tho Sakej ! or Auld Rang Syne," when the. words were flashed on the screen during the I playing of the melody by Vincent. I "The Crossroads of New York." opened lta run at the Orpheum theater thea-ter yesterday Tho plot concerns Michael Klint, who like young Roch-lnvar, Roch-lnvar, comes out of the west to make his fortune In the big city of Jihe least. Unlike Rorhlnvar, however, young Michael has no steed, so In-letead In-letead of Joining the mounted police he seeks a position with the street cleaning department. His wealthy uncle un-cle becomes enmeshed with a Broadway Broad-way vampire and flees to distant parts from which rumors of his untimely death make Michael the possessor of a large fortune. The young millionaire finds true love, but It runs pretty roughly.1 The vamplro who had fleeced his uncle seems to be about to take him Into camp also; but at the psychological psycho-logical moment the uncle reappenrs. Rumors of his death were. It appears, premature. Then there follows an exciting kidnaping scene that throws the stock market Into a turmoil tur-moil as a big magnate disappears and his favorite stock Is hammered down until It looks like a well worn thumb tack. Young Michael dashes to the fray and effects a sensational rescue that aavea the situation and brings him untold wealth and tho girl of his choice. The plot is developed In straight dramatic fashion with many un-ii un-ii ual angles and a typical Sennett tinge of comedy relief. Western Stuff," a picture of life on ranges In western Canada and "One Stormy Knight " a Christy comedy, round out an interesting bill that runs until the Pantages vaudeville Thursday. Thurs-day. oo |
