Mcm-Iphls. whose mistress her husband charged her to have been, and who has been described by Mr Harris as a professional gambler, Mrs. Harris said "Mr. Rayner la now a man of 70. He is from one of the best families of the soutli " She said further that to the best of her knowledge, Rayner is a man of in-'dependent in-'dependent means, and that like many Other men he may play cards for high stakes. "He Is a man of honor." the affidavit affi-davit continued, "and I respect him as much as any man I ever knew." Her counsel criticized Mr. Harris for terms used In referring to her in legal statements, and said ADMITS ILLEGITIMACY The -defendant (Mrs. Harriu) Is. unfortunately, un-fortunately, an Illegitimate child, and perhaps, ho believes that this gives him full license to attack her with even ev-en hideous term that can be used ugalnst the most depraved woman " Mri. Harris stated in her affidavit that lier husband has been trying for three years to force her to go to Reno or Paris and procure a divorce from him.
