Show II BOY SHOT BY I UNLOADED' GUN arl Chadwick in Critical Condition Following South Fork Accident Carl Chadwick, 18 years of ajte, son of William A. Chadwick of liberty. Is In a critical condition at tho Dec hospital hos-pital following: an accidental shooting yesterday afternoon at Magpie camp in South Fork canyon. He was taken to the hospital by Deputy Game Warden Ward-en W. H. Anderson and immediately operated on by Dr Ezra Rich. His intestines were punctured in four places by tho bullet. Chadwick was accidentally shot by Elry Montgomery, a boy (hum, with a .32 caliber automatic pistol, both young men believing the gun to bo unloaded when tho accident occurred. According to information gathered Ibv Sheriff R. D PinwccK and Deputy Sheriff D F. Steele immediately following fol-lowing the receipt of the news at the sheriff's office, Chadwick, accompanied accom-panied by Glen Ward, Angus Shaw, Clarence Shaw, John Montgomery, Orval Holmes. CrH Hill. Clive Hill, Leslie Bailey, Ira Southwb k and Elry Montgomery, went to Magpie camp on horseback. Prior to the accident the boys had been practicing shooting at a target and lellelng tho weapon to be fully discharged Elry Montgomery Montgom-ery took it to clean it when ihe accidental ac-cidental shooting occurred. Chadwick was struck In tho abdomen, abdo-men, the bullet puncturing the intestines intes-tines in four places Deputy Game Wtardon Anderson was camped near by and immediately brought the wounded youth to Ogden. Sheriff PlncOCk said this morning that the Investigation proved that the shootlnp was accidental. |
