Show I SKELETON IS J SHOWNAT TRIAL Bony Structure Used to I Point Out Location of Dewees' Injuries I A shining, rattling human skeleton was pulled forth from its sheet covering cov-ering this morning1 in the district court and used by physicians and attorneys at-torneys to point out the location of certain fractured bones alleged to have been sustained by C C. Dewees when he was struck by on automobile or the Continental Oil company last January. Dewcos is suing the oil company and Serge L- Squires. :i checker for the company, who was alleged to have been driving the car, for damages of $25,000. The glistening skeleton was used by counsel for the plaintiff wh-n ir Mark Brown was placed upon tfcd witness stand to grlVc testimony. tr. Brown first pointed out In two X-ray photographs taken by him, fractures of tho bones of tho left and right shoulders of Mr. Dewees Then, While J. H. DeVlne counsel for tho oil company, held the skeleton before tho Jury, Dr. Brown pointed out the bones that had been fractured In the shoulders of Mr. Dewees. Leslie B. Richardson, a clerk, was OP the witness stand this morning on cross examination bj Mr DeVlne and later upon re-direct examination by I attorneys of tlio plaintiff The firm Of Marioneau t Beck of Salt Bake and Samuel ' Powell are represent-, ing the plaintiff. Richardson testified that the ma- chine which struck Mr. Dewees turned ( the corner of Twenty-fourth street and Washington avenue at the rate Of 2,5 miles an hour, in his opinion, j He said the car struck Mr. Dowces on the right side toward the bac;. In his complaint Dewees allege' that the ol! company car was belmr I driven in a careless manner and ' blames the driver. In answer the oil company denies that the driver was to blame. Tho lurors hearing the c-ase in Judge George S. Barker's division are C. W. James. Joseph II Ogden, George W. GwlUlam William N Mc-Kntlie, Mc-Kntlie, C. D. Anderson. Peter Wanga-rard, Wanga-rard, Emanuel Bradshaw and Pai P Taylor. The case probably will be completed com-pleted early next week. This morning's court sessli was marked by frequent clashes between counsel over questions asked In redirect re-direct examination, with Mr Richardson Richard-son on the stand In qualifying Dr. Brown as a witness wit-ness Mr Powell asked the physician if he were "an X-ray expert " Mr. DeVlne relieved the situation when Dr. Brown smiled, but did not answer, by saying, "we admit it to relieve tho doctor's embarrassment," |
