Show I CELEBRATE ON ARMISTICE DAY Tomorrow is Armistice day and all Ogden should observe the event. Four years ago the world waited word from the headquarters of General Gener-al Foch. The German representatives wcto known to be on their way and j everywhere there was deep anxiety as to the decision to be marie. LL . In Ogden hundreds ol homes were LW experiencing the suspense whi h comes with the sxpei ' at Ion of mom 0 tous news, and the entire commanit) was deeply concerned for not a family LW was free from the uncertainties of the Lm -war. The word that was expected would mean life or death for a groat dumber of Ogden boys and might call to the cantonrui nts another group of young fellows. The whole story as it unfolded wa3 of tragedy or peace. At H last, in the early hours of November 11, 1918, the whistles burst forth In "blast after blast and all Ogden then I knew the war was ended. No one who participated in the rejoicings re-joicings of that d.iy four years ago, will forget the wild acclaim of the people, or tho smiles and 'he tears as the strain of tho years gave way. Then came the nrm resohe to honor our boys when they arrived home. But Ihe boys returned in small groups, except ex-cept the 145th, and no opportunity was afforded to give all the ex-service men tho warmth of welcome of which I they wcro so richly worthy. Why not, on tomorrow, manifest some of this pent up devotion to thc-yoang thc-yoang fellows by celebrating Armistice Armis-tice day with enthusiasm? Armistice day will go down in bis-T6ry bis-T6ry as the greatest event in ihe wars I of all time. |
