Show DRIVE SET FOR COLLEGE GYM L. D. S. Organizations to Make Campaign to Raise Allottment Weber college gymnasium drive week has been arranged for the week beginning Sunday. October 22 It la announced an-nounced by officials of the Mount Ogden, Og-den, North Weber and Weber stakes. The drive will be conducted under the supervision of Apostle David O McKay, Mc-Kay, who has been in consultation with the four stake presidencies, arranging ar-ranging for a vigorous campaign to have the full amount of the $150,000 allotted to the people of Weber county, coun-ty, collected befrfre, he leaves or his mission in England, early In November. Novem-ber. Special meetings will be held Wltb the priesthood in each of the wards of the four stakes .Sunday morning All members of the priesthood are urged to attend. The subject of the gymnasium will be discussed by member? mem-ber? of the stake presidencies and hlsrh councils who are co-operating with ward bishops to have each war. pav off Its allotment during tho coming week. Special addresses on the subject sub-ject will be delivered at the Sacrament Sacra-ment meetings in the wards by educators edu-cators and others Sunday evening and the campaign will continue throughout through-out the week SOME PAT ALLOTMENTS Committees have been selected to visit the people in their homes for the purpose of collecting donations or so-curing so-curing pledges. A number of wards in the county have paid oft their allotments al-lotments and others have donated substantial sub-stantial sums of money toward the building. A few wards have taken but little active Interest-in the Gymnasium Gym-nasium and every effort is now being put forth to convince the people that the gymnasium is necessary for the moral and physical betterment of tho community. The trustee-ln-trust of the L. D. S church Will donate $lf0,000 toward building funds when a similar amount has been donated by the people of V eber county o w Adams, chairman chair-man of tho committee appointed to secure funds from business Interests in the. city reports that while the full amount of $60,000 has not been secured, se-cured, businessmen are redeeming their pledges by making regular payments pay-ments to the fund He anticipated tnat the full amount would bo col- '...-(...1 r. n ! si n t n OTHER BUILDINGS I The building Is now under course of , construction and every' effort is being made to collect the necessary funds on that the roof may be on the building before winter The gymnasium is but one of many buildings needed in this city, according to Apostle David 1 1 McKay and there are indications that i if the people will rally to the support 1 of the gymnasium a temple and a tabernacle tab-ernacle will be erected In this city .Several new ward meeting houses are needed owing to the rp.pid increase in population but these wards cannot be j i divided and new chapels erected until j t ho gymnasium fund is fully subscribed, subscrib-ed, according to church officials |
