Coaches Tommy Ultzpatrick. A. Prince and Lee Prouse. along with Captain Nell Smith and Trainer Kim r Nleison will be awaiting await-ing the largo list of men, who arc-expected arc-expected to show up at this time. Eitzpatrlck and Princo are to handle the Varsity candidates and Graduate Manager Prouse will coach the Freshmen Fresh-men along with hLs other duties as manager at the school. The Varsity men, who will be ready forthe first workouts, are Harvey Hancock, tho big center of last year. Hancock Is itching to get his hands on tho slippery old oal and is 1 -pectcd to play his best football, as" it will be his last year of competition at tho University of Utah. Harvey will fill up a big gap in the line and his experience will be n big factor In working the newer men into shape. Kent Evans and Henry Hurren are the two old standby guards to be back at school These two stars of last years team are ready for the first whistle, as they have been doing hard work all summer and should be strong enough to stand the hard schedule that the crimson has this season. Swan and Gilmer will be missed from the tackle positions and it will lie up to Nation, Moyle, and posslbly virgti Peterson, last year's end, to fill tho places of these men. Peterson played tackle on the Infant eleven two years ago and made a great showing show-ing and With the experience he had on the end last year, tin big Swede should be a tower of strength to the Utah eleven this season. Jeppson. YVlrthlln Oscar Smith, and Red Stevens should make rood end material for the "Red DelLs." as the "U" players are now called by the Colorado critics. The backfleld is the big problem on the hill and the coaches are Ithinklng seriously of taking some or the big men from the lino and matting matt-ing backfleld men out of them. Ike Clarke. Moffett. D. Peterson, and Stratford .ire some of the men. who 'may be worked on for backfleld ma-t--rlal. At present Captain X" . i 1 Smith, Vere Champion, Deano Hart. King Brady, Clarence Hagen, Glen YVatkins, Dutch Taufer. and Brick Whitney are some of the men, who have had experience and will be back in the backfleld again this season. Some of these men are too small to make real good backfleld men. who can run interference and stand up under the heavy college men during an entire game. The coaches are determined de-termined to have interference going I out after the opposing ends this season sea-son and will keop changing their llne-up llne-up until someone Is found, who can .take tho end or tackle out of the way and also make ground as well ,for tho crimson aggregation. Manv new men are expected to turn out to the early practice and two of this number may make valuable ba kfleld men. They are "Dempsey" Whiting of the last year's basketball squad and ' Wiggle" Jones, who played baa-ketball baa-ketball for the past two years for the B. Y. C team at Logan Both of these men weigh over 18S and are fast and with their basketball experience ex-perience they may be developed into valuable backfleld men. Both have the proper stuff in them and It Beema certain that they will be read for the games this season FROSH TO REPORT.
