I For 14 years Mr Boyd had been I associated with the Ogde.i legal fraternity. fra-ternity. Before that time he was a practicing attorney of Pocatello, a member of the law firm of Terrell & Boyd. Coming to Ogden he entered ;art-nership ;art-nership with C. C. Richards ind practiced prac-ticed here as a Junior member of the firm of Richards A Boyd. Later he became associated with J H. DeVine in the firm of Boyd & DeVine. wh'ch subsequently became Bod. DcYtne & Eccles. During the past several years he hud been general counsel for the Amalgamated Sugar company Six months ago ho became 111. He was taken to California, where it was believed tho climate might prove beneficial. However, Ire failed to rally and a few days ago returned to his home here. HARD WORK BIiAMED. Mr. Boyd's illness occurred at the time of great stress in connection with tho refinancing of tho sugar company, his friends believing thiu the hard work he did In that connection connec-tion was In great part responsible for Ms breakdown. The first stroke left I him In a weakened but not holpJ condition and he seemed to be Improving Im-proving up to the time ho was taken 1 to California. The news which indicated indi-cated a turn for tho worse In his condition came from California about three weeks agp. "Colonel" Boyd was an active member of the Democratic party and hip oratorical ability was much In 1 demand by his party during political campaigns. The attorney was not an office seeker, however. He was the ; Weber county party's candidate at ' one fine fcr the office of county at-torney at-torney but withdrew his name before election. Mr. Boyd was born In Leslie. Ar- , Kansas. March IS. 1875. Surviving are the widow ami two soni, McNab and TalmSdgS Boyd. Funeral arrangements arrange-ments have not been completed. |
