When the best quality qual-ity was exhausted (early in the nineteenth nine-teenth century) the manufacturers turned their attention to the utilization utiliza-tion of the accumulatloni! of waste from cuttings of the original masses Which they finely ground and niiiec with varying proportions of clay. Ii this way they wre able to product pencils of 14 degree Of hardness an softness, making them superior ti those formerly made from the entire graphite, which was uever uniform in hardness audcolor. |
