Steamship lines, operating through the canal attacked the steel corporation's corpora-tion's right to participate on the 'ground thai it was also owner of a I number ot railroad lines, some of i which are engaged in transcontinental traffic. Railroad linos so engaged are prohibited by law trom entering Into direct competition with ships in the canal trade. The examiner decided that none of tho corporation's railroads could be enn-ddered competitors for transcontinental transcon-tinental business and that the ownership owner-ship of merchant vessels by the niantf-j niantf-j factoring industry had not beep forbidden for-bidden by congress. |
