Show Early Mailing Urged by Postoffice Clerks To facilitate tho handling of mall' and to rale pfflclncy of the postal i service, the National Federation of Postal Clerks has started an early ! mailing campaign, according to word 'from the local postofflce. i Because of the heavy volume of mail turned In at the postofflce by various I industrial and mercantile firms of the city, distribution Is difficult at times, and because of the greater bulk of the mall being turned in at the close, of ihf business day. the clerks are hard pressed ln getting the mall to Its proper trains, It is said. Ogden merchants and Industrial firms, it Is said, mall seventy per cent Of their day's mall after 3 o'clock In the afternoon Because of this fact, a quanlltv of mall cannot be sent out until the following day. It is aaeerted 'hat by mailing early and often, that the time between the mailing and receiving of a package can be reduced materially. The National Federation of Clerks has sent out the following suggestions Help improve the service by "Signing your letters at noon and at frequent Intervals thereafter; "Depositing mail frequently during the day: "Mailing circular and relatively un-j Important mall In the morning. "Early mailing or "a mall in the morning'" practice will permit the ispeedler and more accurate handling important mall during the rush period and reduce the present excessive ex-cessive amount of night work required I for postofflce clerke." |
