Show CITY C COUNCIL MINUTES tho the city council met in ii city hall en sep 2nd and 1881 may or L presiding minutes of former meeting were read and approved petition of lamoni grix and 21 others asking the council to put a bridge over dry creek at the intersection ter section of smith mi ith and eighth streets was referred to the committee on streets the following report was presented gentlemen of the city council your special committe to whom aug 1881 was referred the petition of F A brown J dinsdale Din dale and others for the al of the pavilion from lester park beg to recommend that said petition ti bo be not be gran the fourlow following reasons that the said pavilion was erected by a committee appointed by the city council on oil the oc occasion casio of the last celebration of the national day with a view to its being made permanent and the action of said committee was endorsed by the council and approved generally by the public ad that in improving the park for the benefit of the citizens of ogden such buildings are a necessity that eaid said pavilion is theon the only public building within the city suitable for large public gatherings on festive and other occasions occasions atil that the nuisances nuisances of bk by the petitioners petition ers may be abated ordinances by t the e enforcement of our city ordinances ri against the offend en arsand and that to remove the pavilion because bemuse of lawless lawlessness nm besides being a waste of means would be to yield to the pressure sure of a disorderly clement which it is the duty ot of the city authorities with the aid of all good citizen citizens to control or suppress kuppr believing that some sonic of the peti have cause to complain against the noise and unruly behavior of sometimes gather in the pavilion because of its easy access your committee therefore recommend that to prevent this annoyance the said building be provided with folding doors and that such other improvements be made thereon as will remove any just cause of complaint and insure the object for which the pavilion was erected the report was accepted and the recommendation adopted the committee on streets reported that the street supervisor had cleaned out the city city drain put them in goo good condition the committee recommended that the proposition odthe of the city to pay towards making a drain ditch running west along the third street corner of ogden bridge remain remain good f for or ninety days that tl tho io citizens in interested te might have time to raise their proportion of means for tho the completion of the ditch report accepted and recommendation adopted in of the directors of the city in the ogden water company alderman stanford stated that the company were prosecuting rosec the work of continuing the aie line of pipes from the ogden den canal on fourth street to oggen ogden cation carion nine thousand ft of pipes had bad been ordered four or five carloads of which was delivered the route had been partially surveyed feied andaas and was considered practicable ca le the action odthe company was approved the following bills were allowed jas M brown feeding prisoners 15 police services services 1126 00 job wagon ser services vices 25 Fic firemen inen services 50 printing and advertising as 50 street supervisor isor streets and drains 10 the Couri council bil adjourned till sept 1881 to meet in the city hall at p m |
