Show WASHINGTON SCML HIS DELIGHTFUL EVENING Many Opden citizens were delightfully delight-fully surprised last night at the wonderfully won-derfully clever dancing and acting of the second grade pupils of the. Washington Wash-ington school in an entertainment given giv-en in the Ninth ward meeting house for the benefit of the Sunday school of the ward. The children ranged In ages from 7 to 8 years, but their acting act-ing was on a par with the best amateur ama-teur adults. During the performance there were many calls for the teacher. Miss Norma Nor-ma Taylor, who had trained the children chil-dren in the parts and dances of the fairy story. "Hansel and Cretel," who were supposed to have been lost in the woods. Miss Taylor had taken the story from the school text books reader read-er and rewritten it into a children's play. Many of the dances, of which there were forty mostly esthetic in the fairy scene, were such as are ordinarily ordinar-ily given to students of high school and college. This, however, did not prevent pre-vent the little tots from giving a wonderful won-derful exhibition, for they carried out the dancing with charming grace and with the parts they were playing ever in mind In fact the children seemed to live their parts, with a fidelity to art which would be creditable to professionals. profes-sionals. One of the cleveresti of the littlo tots was Evangeline Cook, who acted as a solo dancer and was so clever that the audience was captivated. On tin bill were a number of specialties, spe-cialties, among them Buster Goodman son, who was dressed like a soldier and sang with great delight to the audience, aud-ience, "1 Hate to Get l'p in the Morning." Morn-ing." An amusing incident occurred 'during Buster's turn. Many people were unnble to get into the house and a large number of the children who lived and played as neighbors with those acting were also outside. Little Wilson Stevens, who is not in school and lc aged about 3 years, sang "Beautiful Katy" in a man-ner man-ner that aroused much enthusiasm. The play took so well that it will be presented again tonight to accommodate accom-modate those who could not get in to sec it last night. It was also suggested suggest-ed that some one should take Intereaf enough in home talent to show Ogden citizens what they have with them bv giving a performance of the play and dancing in one of ihe theaters. Miss Norma Taylor taught the pupils pu-pils by a method of her own, which seems to havo been very successful. She was assisted in the stage direction by Miss Helen Taylor, another teacher at i lie Washington school.
