Show Candland and Smyth Offer Resignations SALT LAKE. April 12. Resignations Resigna-tions of V. D. Candland as chairman and Herbert E Smyth as secretary of the Republican state committee of lTtah were submitted to the committee at a meeting at the Hotel Utah last night. The session was executive and the committee present spent nearly three hours discussing matters pertaining per-taining to organization and work for( the coming campaign. In submitting the resignation ofi himself and Secretary Smyth, Chair-j man Candland stated that it was their desire that the committee should in no way be embarrassed in the matter of organising for the next campaign and they thought it only propur. and fair that they should tender their resignations res-ignations and leave a clear and open field for the committee in tho matter of re-organlzatlon and selection of officers offi-cers for the next battle in politics. The committee extended a vote of thanks to and confidence in the officers offi-cers who served during the last cam paign and a motion that no action bo taken on their resignations until a later meeting, when a full membership member-ship may be present, was unanimously carried.
