Cincinnati, professional baseball base-ball player, confessed to William L. Veeck, president of the Chicago National Na-tional league baseball club, Chicago, on February 10. 1920, that he bet against the Cincinnati Reds in July, 1919, when a member of tho Red team, and made "Intentional wild throws" and "otherwise" played to cause his team to lose to Boston, Is alleged In an amended answer filed in tho U. S. district court here today by the Chicago club. Magee Is suing for $9,500 alleged to be duo as dam-I dam-I ages for the refusal of the Chicago club to pormit horn to plav with tho Chicago team this year. Tho amended answer was filed as a result of tho ruling of tho U. S. District Dis-trict Judge J. A. Peck, last Saturdav, sustaining in part Magee's motion to require the Chicago club to set forth with definiteness and detail its allegations alle-gations concerning his alleged dishonest dishon-est ball playing. Tho name of Hal Chase, former Cincinnati Cin-cinnati first baseman, also is mentioned men-tioned in the answer of the club, it being averred that Mageo told Veeck that ho had conspired with Chase to bet against tho Reds.
