Show 4- ! Ancient Structure, j 45 Stories High, Is i Discovered In West i BALTIMORE. Md., Dec 28 The discovery of a stone "apartment" building 45 stories high and containing one thousand rooms, believed to have been the home of a now extinct tribe of American Indians was to be announced today at a meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America at Johns Hopkins L-niversity. The "apartment was uncovered with a group of towns representing an ancient civilization in the midst of the sou th western deserts. It was unearthed by the school of American research conducted at Santa' Fe, N. M., by the institute. It will be described by Edgar L. Hewitt, director of the school, at the meeting of the institute held in conjunction with the American Philological association and the Haya society Several thousand persons may have lived in the r;ew!v discovered building, which Mr. Hewitt believes was the cente.-of cente.-of community life in its day. |
