H From there they drove to a dance hall, H and without alighting from the cab, H drove to Twenty third and Jefferson. H Burk testified that Burr said he had H become somewhat affected by the ll H Quor and was in a stupor. He claimed to have been Bitting m the real H of the taxicab on the right hand side. ' H He recalled Pass saying "He's hit, fOU better beat it," according to Captain B Pass when questioned, admitted bis B presence in the ?ab. the police say He B said he had been drinking During the first conversation with Captain Burk, H lie Claimed he was ignorant regarding K"' who fired the shot. Later he admit Ik ted having fired the shot, the captain H said. Pass admitted he might i have made (hat statement but offered; no further explanation, according to! the testimonv. SERGEANT CALLED. Sergeant A. Ed Edwardi was the H next witness. Ht said thai the police station had been called by the hoi pital authorities. He immediately re-l ported to the hospital and saw Wilson, laying on a bed. and bleeding from al wound in hh leg. At the rear of the hospital the taxicab v. as standing. In the botlom of the taxicab, a cap. a whisky bottle containing a small quan-tity quan-tity o& liquor, an empty ,38 caliber re-volver, re-volver, two towels, and a holster were H found, he said. County Attorney Attor-ney Joseph B. Bates finally established establish-ed that the statements were admis sions Immediately before nopn, the taxi cab in which Wdson i. alleged to have io i-n shot, was brought in front of the 1 police station. Judge I). R. Roberts, together with attorneys, witnesses and i spectators, went to the car to examine it. The right front seat, immediately , behind he steering wheel, had been perforated apparently by a bullet. Court was then adjourned until this ! afternoon, at 2 o'clock, when cross I examination of Sergeant A. M. Ed- wards on the testimony he gave this I morning, will begin. |
