Resolutions Resolu-tions wero adopted at the last session of tho convention of tho California Retail Grocers' and Merchants' association associ-ation at the Hotel Del Monto expressing express-ing a desire to tender the services of retail grocers to the authorities in investigating in-vestigating and dealing out punishment punish-ment for the high cost of living. A demand was also made for tho producers pro-ducers to assume the responsibility for the Increased cost of food. Several of the speakers warned tho members present, however, to be careful care-ful In buying In large quantities as there will be a docrease of price In many goods. Such staples as sugar and coffee wero mentioned as coming down. A resolution was passed advocating a law to make It mandator)' for aliens lo declare their Intention of becoming citizens before being allowed to on-gage on-gage In business. The convention also went on record against the right of I Asiatic? to acquire and hold title to agricultural land In California. Tho members strongly Indorsed the closing of stores on Sundays Other resolutions passed were: Right of manufacturers to set staple price on standard products, against employes of factories. shipyards, banks and federal Institutions In forming form-ing buying clubs who have no overhead over-head and have the advantage of competition com-petition with the retailer; indorsement of ruling of federal commission against1 fraudulent advertising, hotter contain-! ers to save loss of merchandise, oa.11 1 on authorities to prohibit the fret use of government buildings by federal employes for private gain under tho guise of operating so-called co-operative stores |
