Show IWASIMGTON AVENUE PAYING TOPIC AT MEETING OF CITY AND COUNTY BOARDS; STATE jDECIDES TO ASSIST s The boards of commissioners of Ogden Og-den city and Weber county are in ses-i3ion ses-i3ion this afternoon considering the matter of the paving of the east side of Washington avenue between the river bridge aDd tho north city limits, one-fourth of which cost will he borne by the state. The announcement that the Weber courtty commissioner's extensive road building program and improvements, was approved by the state road commission com-mission yesterday was made today bv County Commissioners M. P. Brown, J. M. Child and D. II. Ensign, prior to their meeting with the city commissioners, com-missioners, Mayor Frank Francis, J. R. Ward and Chris Flygare- On tho North Washington paving, east side, Hie state will pay 25,587 and the county 61,413. The remainder remain-der of the cost which will be about 50 per cent of the cost will be borne by tho city and abutting property owners. own-ers. The remainder of the program as presented and endorsed by the stale road commission follows: To complete the Roy-Ogden pavement. pave-ment. 3-?,300.82 as the state's share and 20.02-1.21 as the county's share. To complete the North Ogden-Ulah Hot Springs .contract, state 57,089.31; county, 46,343.94. Six miles in Ogden canyon, state, 125,092; county, 94,908. Rivcrdalc crossing of Union Pacific tracks and Weber river, state, 35.-821.80; 35.-821.80; county, 27,17S.20. Woodruff-Uunlsville federal aid proj-' ect, federal, 7500; state, $11,150; county, ll,15(j. The federal bureau of public roads has notified the state ' that it can spend only 515.000 on thin project, one-half going to Rich county and one-half to Weber county. Secretary Ira Browning of the state board, said the securing 1 of federal aid for the paving would ! curtail tho federal aid program some-w some-w here else in the state, and the Weber commissioners agreed to levy a three-mill three-mill tax, if necessary, to raise 26G,-993.35 26G,-993.35 as that county's portion of tho state road program. The state will contribute, nccording to the present 1 arrangement1, 289,016.93 additional, from the state bond fund, while the I federal government will come In with 7500 on one project, (hat from Wood- ruff to Ilunisville. This would make; Weber county'r. total share of the bond I&sue 350,040.93, or about one-elev-' enth of tho entire 4.000,000 issue. Yrilh an unexpended balance from . the 1919 tax levy of 52,714.42 and a 1 levy of three mills on 1S20. Webei county could raise 210. 857.62 without any increase in valuation.
