In 1!H2 he cap-j) cap-j) tained the championship University f lliiuois track and field team and won the two mile p-vent in the bis meet of the year He covered the -two miles in 9 minutes and 33 seconds. The I same year he met and defeated the I present national mile, half mile and two mile champion, Joie Ray, in B two-mil i event. This race was held in the summer sum-mer and both R-vy nnd Martin were I running as team mates in a meet stag-I stag-I ed at Chicaco. Wins Cross-Country Championship. During the past year he has i competed under the colors of the Elks' club of Salt Lake and. although he has been out of the game for four years, he administered a come back and copped the western championship at Denver in June. 1919. At the service games at the state fair during the month of October, Oc-tober, Martin won the state five-mile championship and thereby annexed two titles.
