Buy Foodstuff on Favorable Terms SALT LAKE, Aug. 15 Municipalities Municipali-ties ma order government food supplies sup-plies on consignment for thirty days if they are unable to pay cash for them, returning what is not used, ac- cording to a circular issued by the director di-rector of sales of the purchase and ! storage section of the army. This information in-formation was received yesterday by Governor Bamberger. This regulation is made to permit cities io benefit in the government sale of surplus foods in case-; where their charters will not allow al-low appropriations for the purchase of the goods. The regulations issued on August 6 also show that sales of surplus supplies sup-plies may be made to state, county or municipal governments, or that they mnv be made to civic bodies specifically specifi-cally designated by local or state au-. thorities. Such stocks must be distributed dis-tributed at cost in all cases, adding only the expense of handling and I freight Charitable Institutions also may pur- chase these supplies, the circular slates, providing they are fdr their! jown use. State, county and munici pal governments and charitable institutions insti-tutions are given until ten days after I the receipt of goods to make remit-I remit-I tances. oo |
