Show Sugar Prices Are Again Regulated i By Government WASHINGTON, Aug. 21 Active control of sugar prices was resumed i today by the government through - n 'agreement reached between tho department depart-ment of justice and the food administration adminis-tration that licenses will be revoked by the latter when it is shown dealers deal-ers hae boen profiteering. Sugar should reach the consumer .it approximately H cent; a pound, it wis announced, based on the ownership of the entire domestic and Cuban cr ip by the Unifed Stales sugur equalization equaliza-tion board, which is selling to refin?rs at $7 28 a pound. Refiners are under contract with the board to sell at nine cents, less two per cent dis count for cash; wholesalers and job bers are allowed a maximum of sixty-eight sixty-eight cents per 100 pounds for handling, hand-ling, and retailers are permitted a prom of one to one and one-half cents per pound, making a fair price 11 cents, except in cases where dealer have purchased at an "unreasonable " price due to misunderstanding in the trade. When this is a fact, a reasonable reason-able advance over the actual cost w'll be permitted.
