Show jELKS OPEN STATE CONVENTION IN OGDEN AT 1 1 A. 1, FRIDAY, AND ADDRESS OF WELCOME Tomorrow the Elks of 1'fab will I open their state convention in Ogden with an address of welcome by Mayor T. Samuel Browning, and with P. F. Kirkendall, exalted ruler presiding, (in Saturday afternoon there will be a big parade. During the stay of the outside Elk in Ogden the rooms of the Eagles' Lome will be thrown open lo them, as they will be generally welcome by the clubs and other social and fraternal organizations of the cits The program of the convention follows fol-lows : Friday, 11 a m Opening of conven tion, P. F. Kirkendall, exalted ruler ol Ogden lodge; address of welcome, Mayor T. Samuel Browning; response, President O. R. Dlbblee, Sail Lake a pointment of chaplain, tiler and sergeant ser-geant at arms; invocation by chaplain; chap-lain; appointment of committees; regular reg-ular session of convention. Friday afternoon Address, Lieutenant Lieuten-ant Colonel J. A. Howell; introduction of resolutions; report on activities of soldiers' friends committee; report of commitlees. Friday evening, 8 p m. Exemplification Exemplifi-cation of ritual b picked team of Officers Offi-cers from five lodges in Utah; open house at Elks' home; dancing. Saturday, 10 a. m. Final reports of committees; adoption of resolutions, election and installation of officers, selection of next m eting place. Saturday afternoon. 2 30 o'clock 1 Utah Elks' parade, forms at Elks' club ion Grant avenue, marches south to Twenty-sixth street, east on Twenty-sixth Twenty-sixth to Washington avenue, north to Twenty-second street, countermarches on W ashington avenue to Twenty-fif h j street, west to Grant avenue and soutn to Biles' home. Competition in this parade for Lewis silver trophy. Saturday evening Dance at Lorin Farr park for Elks only and their i ladies Delegates from all parts of the state are expected to arrive in Ogden this afternoon and tomorrow morning. The visiting delegates from Salt Lake will h ave that city on a special Bamberger train tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. They will arrive in Ogden shortly after 10 a m. and will be met by a committee commit-tee and will be taken to the local home of the Elks. Delegates from Park City, Eureka and Provo aro expected to nrrive her this evening and tomorrow morning. It is reported that many of the dele- ;'.s are traveling in automobiles, and the time of their arrival is indefinite. indefi-nite. The commit tee on entertainment has secured the services of the S. P. Glee club feir tomorrow evening. The , Lillian Thatcher orchestra will :ur-nish :ur-nish the music for the dance that will be held tomorrow evening following the general meeting. |
