Following the puggrstion rorrmtlv I spt forth in a bulletin from th ou- reau of education, department of, in-I in-I trrior. at Washington, and conform Ing with the new health program outlined out-lined by State Health Director Dr. E G. Cowans, the schools of Wober county coun-ty are about to launch a campaign for better school conditions for the pupils in the county, according to word from Superintendent B. H. Fowler. Three distinct phases of this work will be featured. First, a physical examination or all children in the district and a daily 1 follow-up by the teacher to deelop interest in proper health habits of children, better exercises and physical , training, attention to weight and height standards for the age in question, ques-tion, proper food, fresh air sleeping, 1 cleaning of the teeth, nails, etc. ; Second Pride in keeping well, ind ! paying particular attention to run tagious diseases; a child to be sent home and quarantined upon first in- j dications of such contagious disease. Third Installing a system of hot lunches in schools at noon time where a bowl of hot soup may be .s-rid at cost to each pupil, the same io be eaten with sandwiches brought from home. The board of education has been considering this important work for some time. They have authorized Supi. B a. Fowler to investigate the needs of the county in health equip-I equip-I ment and make the necessary purchases. pur-chases. I applicators, fever thermometer. bandages, ban-dages, antiseptic gauze, throat washes, solutions of bichloride of mercury, phenol, lysol, etc . has been provided throughout the county for use In ihis health campaign In the matter of serving hot lunches ii la thought that about six school oi the ounly will be designated for places to try out the scheme during the ensuing year. Mr A. I Tippeltfi, county club leader, and some m ruber of the local farm bureau have already shown much interest, in this phaec Of the health movement. They have indi cated their willingness to cooperate i in any feasible plan to "put it over." Members of the ehild welfare committee com-mittee of the farm bureau have just completed a study of the needs by way of equipment for this work, and have submitted a list of the same and the estimated cost to SupeN'ntendent Fowler Fow-ler today. It is thought that all utensils uten-sils and equipment can be supplied for ?60 per school if purchased in wholesale whole-sale lots. Some of the canning of tomatoes to-matoes and vegetables for the soups has already been done under the direction di-rection of Mr. Tippetts.
