Tho Republic Repub-lic of Mexico has started the movement? move-ment? of legal machinery to save Vin-ceute Vin-ceute Ramirez, condemned to die on the gallows at the Idaho stato penitentiary peniten-tiary for the murder of his fellow countryman, Frank BIscarrn. R. P. Denegri, consul general of Mexico, tonIfiHt,ti3legraphed-.Governor Alexander as follows from San Francisco: Fran-cisco: "I hereby respectfully request to be Informed by wire, collect, regarding proceeding against Mexican citizen, Vinconte Ramirez, sentenced to death for murder, and further request that execution be deferred while the foreign for-eign department of Mexico takes the matter up with the state department at Washington. I wish to intercede in favor of my countryman, who is en-tittlcd en-tittlcd to the protection of his government, govern-ment, and investigate the case, invoking invok-ing due justice. Thanks." A reprieve was granted Ramirez Wednesday until the meeting of the stato board of pardons, the first Wednesday in January, 1918. He was to be hanged December 14. Governor Alexander says he resents the attempt to tako the matter up with the department depart-ment of Justice at Washington, declaring declar-ing the state of Idaho has Jurisdiction. He has so informed Consul Denegri. |
